Carols on song

By Bridget Brady
CAROLS in Cranbourne will be on song again this year.
Residential developer Villawood Properties has ensured the Rotary Club of Cranbourne’s annual Christmas carols will be a sure thing this year, announcing a $6000 sponsorship of the event.
Last year the Rotary club announced it would have to pull the pin on the carols, which have a 40-year history in the town, due to escalating costs.
But Villawood Properties and members of the community rallied to support the event last year, which now has a new home at the Cranbourne Racecourse.
Carols committee chairman Peter Carpenter said he was delighted that Villawood had come on board again this year.
“They virtually saved the carols last year,” he said.
“We are fantastically pleased.”
Villawood Properties executive director Tony Johnson said Villawood was excited to be involved in the popular carols event. Villawood Properties is preparing for the launch of the new 330-lot development in Clyde called Pasadena this weekend.
Casey councillor Geoff Ablett said the event was expected to attract up to 6000 people this year.
“Villawood Properties’ support is fantastic for the region’s annual Christmas event and a great compliment to the Rotary club and their hard work in bringing the carols event together,” Cr Ablett said.
The date for the carols event is yet to be finalised.
