MOST people go on holidays and travel the world when they retire. But not Cranbourne’s Doctor Ron Roberts.
“I’ve taken up a completely new challenge in life,” Mr Roberts said.
He spends his time writing books and inventing new things for the medical community.
One such product is an insert called ‘The Perfect Pour’. Its slogan is “Don’t waste a precious drop,” and indeed, it lives up to that.
“What happens when you pour anything out of a bottle is that glass bottles have a round edge on the top, causing the liquid to run down the side,” he said. “My insert prevents such from happening.”
He felt compelled to make this when he was at a restaurant one day, and observed a waiter pouring wine into a glass.
“A number of drops would always fall onto the white tablecloth,” Mr Roberts said.
“That not only happens with wine, it will happen with olive oil, medicines, sauce bottles, milk and cream bottles.
“Most of all, it happens when pouring acid.”
This patent can even be used for stronger acids, such as hydrochloric acid.
The problem, however, is that Mr Roberts cannot find someone to promote and produce his invention.
“I’m looking to take this to someone under licence,” he said.
“I went to the government the other day but they don’t seem keen. If the government don’t give me any funding, I’ll take it overseas. I’ve also applied to go on The Inventors (TV show).”
Mr Roberts said the invention was so simple and could be produced for less than five cents.
“It is a market advantage,” he said.
“This can revolutionise the bottle and glass industry.”
Mr Roberts is a naturopath, acupuncturist, physical therapist and chiropractor. He also developed Muscular Sports Balm and Vapour Chest Balm, which offers temporary relief and reduces the pain of aching muscles.
No matter where he goes in the future, Mr Roberts will always give back to the community.
“It’s my goal and my aim to promote global distribution,” he said. “If I make dollars from this, it will certainly go to charitable institutions.”
