It all adds up for Ganesh

By Bridget Brady
THEY call Ganesh the human calculator.
And the grade six Kilberry Valley Primary School student lived up to his name by blitzing the field in the recent World Maths Day competition.
Competing against students from around the world in the on-line based competition, Ganesh finished an impressive fifth in Australia for the nine to 13 age group.
The whole school took part in the competition, and leading teacher of numeracy Julie Redpath said students were excited about Ganesh’s success.
“They were just so excited. He’s amazingly smart,” she said.
The fifth place in Australia meantGanesh finished about 22nd in the world, Ms Redpath said.
