A NEW-look Cranbourne Secondary College is taking shape.
Upgrades are continuing as part of a near $7 million investment into the school, which has seen a new administration, library and garden completed.
A new junior learning centre and food technology centre, featuring commercial-style kitchens are still underway.
Acting principal Jim Papas said the face-lift was an exciting one, and essential for Cranbourne Secondary College in order to keep up with modern schools being built in growth areas. There are about 1500 students at Cranbourne Secondary College.
“We needed to upgrade the school to bring it in line with other new developments that cater for the growth in the Casey area,” he said.
One of the interesting new features at the school was the sustainable garden, Mr Papas said, which used rain water from the roof of the administration building in the dry creek bed.
Structural changes are not the only new aspects at the school.
Mr Papas said the upgrades complemented the new emph-asis on student leadership in the school, which was focused on giving students more of a voice and a sense of contributing more to school life.
“It’s one of my passions in schools. It gives them a sense of purpose a voice with decision making.”
