Hold receipts

PARENTS are reminded to hold onto their receipts from school items to receive tax deductions.
As part of the government’s education tax refund, school items such as laptops, home computers, printers, stationery and text books can be claimed.
Parents can receive up to $345 per primary school student and $750 per secondary student as part of the government’s education tax refund.
Cranbourne mother of two Louise Morgan said the refund was a welcome relief.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne said the expenses accumulated during the 2009-10 financial year were deductible.
“Parents bringing up our children make enormous sacrifices and deserve a helping hand. It is important parents are aware of the cost-saving initiatives which may be available to them,” Mr Byrne said.
