Global language links

ST PETER’S College students will soon be interacting in a global classroom.
The Cranbourne school will use a $345,000 grant to create a language centre where students have the opportunity to connect with other students around the world.
Principal Tim Hogan said students would make contact with other schools via video link-ups during their language classes and immerse themselves in various cultures.
“The online technology really allows that to happen,” Mr Hogan said.
The video link-ups will occur with St Michel De Picpus in Paris and Sapporo High School in Japan, where the school has ties.
“We’re really excited about receiving the funding,” Mr Hogan said.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera announced the State Government grant.
“This funding will enable St Peters College to undertake important capital works that will not only improve education facilities and student outcomes but also enable greater community use of education and sporting facilities,” Mr Perera said.
St Peter’s College is one of 29 Catholic and independent schools in Victoria sharing in $7.5 million worth of grants.
