CASEY council has taken out a national prize for the design of Casey Fields.
The Casey Fields Development Project won the National Infrastructure Development category at the Federal Government’s national awards for Local Government.
Casey Fields will soon feature a regional athletics feature, including an international standard track, lighting for night competition and a pavilion to seat 1000 people.
The project also includes one of Victoria’s largest playgrounds. It and the athletics track are due for completion by the end of the year.
Casey’s director of planning and development services Peter Fitchett received the award on behalf of Casey and said Casey Fields was an example of a council seizing opportunities to provide much-needed infrastructure for a rapidly growing area.
“With more than another 40,000 residents expected to call Cranbourne home over the next 10 to 15 years, timely infrastructure provision is crucial to ensuring new residents have the services they require when they move here,” Mr Fitchett said.
