A 21-YEAR-OLD woman is on life support after a single car collision in Cranbourne North on the weekend.
Police said the woman, from Edithvale, lost control of the four-wheel drive vehicle while travelling north along the South Gippsland Highway near Stirling Avenue and struck a tree about 10.20am on 27 June.
The woman was trapped in the vehicle for some time, police said, and was airlifted to The Alfred hospital with serious head and internal injuries and placed on life support.
Her 20-year-old male passenger from Cranbourne suffered head injuries and was taken to The Alfred.
Casey Highway Patrol’s Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch said it appeared speed and alcohol were not factors in the collision, and the police investigation was ongoing.
Northbound lanes on the South Gippsland Highway between Thompsons Road and Stirling Avenue were blocked off.
Any witnesses can contact Sen Const Inderwisch on 5991 0600.
