CRANBOURNE superbike star Wayne Maxwell revved his way to a top five finish during his debut at the Suzuka 300 event in Japan.
Maxwell, 27, finished fifth overall and said he was pleased with his performance in the 300km race, which is a prelude event to the prestigious eight-hour endurance ride at the end of July.
“The conditions were difficult for sure, changing between rain and dry the whole time, but it’s probably going to be even tougher for the eight-hour so it was good experience,” Maxwell said.
The Demolition Plus GAS Honda rider finished third at the third round of the Australian Superbike Championships in Queensland just before he left for Japan.
Maxwell is in second place of the overall Australian Superbike Championships ranking, behind Bryan Staring.
