CRANBOURNE train users were given some words of advice this week to improve their safety at stations.
Police officers visited the Cranbourne Railway Station on Tuesday as part of a new community safety and crime prevention campaign.
During visits to Berwick, Cranbourne, Hallam, Merinda Park and Narre Warren railway stations, representatives from Victoria Police, the City of Casey, Casey Cardinia Transport Connections and Metro will offer practical tips and advice for train users to keep them and their vehicles safe.
Victoria Police transit safety division Sergeant Colin Huth urged Casey commuters to ensure their cars were locked and personal property remained out of sight.
City of Casey community safety manager Caroline Bell said the council was proud to help commuters recognise ways to improve their safety.
“The safety and well-being of the community is of paramount importance and this community safety campaign aims to raise awareness of the actions commuters can take to improve their safety,” she said.
Metro chief executive Andrew Lexala said Metro had added almost 100 more staff at stations since taking over the network late last year, and worked alongside police to target crime and anti-social behaviour.
