Birds fly in Skye- Colin Butler gears up for the Mornington Peninsula Avicultural Society’s 26

ONE of the largest bird sales in the country will take flight in Skye this month.
The Mornington Peninsula Avicultural Society will hold its 26th annual bird sale and Expo on 30 May, with the novice backyard bird breeder and the experienced aviculturalist all catered for.
More than 100 Victorian and interstate breeders will sell a large variety of Australian and exotic birds at the event, including parrots, finches, quail and doves and popular favourites budgies and canaries.
More than 3000 people attended last year’s event.
Bird products such as seeds, bird cage accessories, toys, aviaries and breeding boxes will be available with more than 30 trade stands.
The Victorian Zebra Finch Society will again stage their annual exhibition show at the expo this year.
Trade display and sales will be open to the public at 9.30am and the cage bird sales section starts at 11am and both run until 2pm.
Admission is $2 for adults with children under eight years free.
The expo will be held at the State Dog Centre, 655 Westernport Highway, Skye.
