THE community is invited to attend this year’s Herb Thomas Memorial Trust Awards Presentation Dinner in Berwick on 20 May.
The trust has established a number of grants that assists graduates and students in the media and printing industry, especially in regional newspapers.
The Rotary Clubs of Berwick, Pakenham and Narre Warren, in conjunction with the former City of Berwick and former Shire of Pakenham, established the Herb Thomas Memorial Appeal in 1979 to continue the memory of the late Herb Thomas, who was the editor and son of the founder of the Pakenham Gazette.
The Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills became an official sponsor of the trust in 1992, and the four Rotary clubs continue to support the trust along with the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Council.
The Rotary Club of Berwick will host this year’s awards dinner at Castello’s Berwick Springs Hotel. Cost is $34 per person. Members of the public are welcome. If anyone is interested contact Megan Rainey at the City of Casey on 9705 5246 by 10 May.
