CASEY traffic police are urging motorcyclists to take care after a 29-year-old man died when he fell off his bike in Hampton Park on the weekend.
The Hampton Park man lost control of his motorcycle about 2.45am on Sunday as he was travelling west along Willow Drive in Hampton Park.
Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch said the man died at the scene after he slid along the road and hit a parked car.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner, and Sen Const Inderwisch said police were investigating whether speed and alcohol were factors in the incident.
It was the third fatality in Casey so far this year and the second motorbike rider to lose their life, following the death of a 33-year-old Frankston man who fell from his motorcycle in Cranbourne North last month. Police said the Frankston man was not wearing a helmet or any protective gear. Sen Const Inderwisch said the Hampton Park man was wearing a helmet, but not protective clothing.
He encouraged riders to take care on the road.
“We certainly urge motorcyclist to take care when they’re riding and also for car drivers to be aware that they’re sharing the road with motorcyclists as well,” Sen Const Inderwisch said.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is encouraged to contact the Endeavour Hills Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
