MORE than 140 people took part in the inaugural Bendigo Bank Take on the Track Fun Run in Cranbourne on Sunday.
Runners and walkers took to the racetrack at Cranbourne for a 3km or 5km walk or a 5km or 10km run to help raise money for local organisations and charities.
YMCA Casey RACE was one of the main sponsors for the event, and dry program director at the leisure and aquatic centre Michael Casey said the fun run was a great family day out.
“Everything went to plan. We had plenty of volunteers between the YMCA and the community house, which was a big help,” Mr Casey said.
“It was good at the racecourse because people’s families and friends in the stands could cheer the people they knew on as they did their laps.”
Cranbourne superbike rider Wayne Maxwell started the race for the participants.
Entertainment for families included an animal farm, face painting and a jumping castle.
Money raised from the event, which is still being counted, will be shared between the Balla Balla Community Centre, Cranbourne Community House, Merinda Park Learning and Community Centre and the Cranbourne YMCA Open Doors Appeal.
Mr Casey said the organising committee did a wonderful job to organise the event.
