THE community is encouraged to show support for the Oakwood Riding School by attending its first showing event next month.
Committee members of the not-for-profit riding school in Clyde North say the school faces an uncertain future after the news that extensions of Thompsons Road would run straight through the 100-acre property.
Chief riding instructor and general manager Sue Chandler said the road would force the school to relocate.
“We would have to relocate, which is not really viable,” she said.
“We are a not-for-profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers.”
Ms Chandler said the Oakwood Riding School Autumn Show, to be held on 14 March, was an opportunity for people to check out the state-of-the-art facilities at the riding school.
About 100 participants are expected to take part in the show, which will feature official, unofficial, fun rings and freshman show jumping.
“We’re hoping it (show) will become an annual thing and give people the opportunity to see the venue and have a good day.”
VicRoads said there were plans to extend the road through Clyde North, but the alignment was subject to the resolution of planning by several parties.
The show will be held on 14 March from 9am at the Oakwood Riding School, which is located at 10 Smiths Lane in Clyde North.
