HAMPTON Park Secondary College students Rylie Heathfield and Lusiana Ku have been elected to lead the school for 2010.
The pair were selected by a committee as college captains along with Fatima El Cheik and Denjie Gacutan who were elected a vice captains.
Both students, who have been at the school since Year 7, addressed the school community of about 1400 for the first time as captains last week and set out their goals.
Lusiana, who was originally from Timor Leste, is the third member of her family to hold a senior leadership role at the school.
One of her sisters, Sonya, was college vice captain and her other sister Margareta was one of the college captains in 2008.
Lusiana said she loved her time at Hampton Park Secondary College over the past six years and was proud to be selected as captain.“We have a great committee to work with on the projects,” she said. “I also want to build good relationships and links with the junior school captains, the SRC and the committee organising the Multi Cultural Week.”
Lusiana hopes to get into medicine after Year 12.
Rylie said it was a great honour to be selected as captain.He said he would like to help students with their transition from primary school to Year 7 as well as be involved in assisting with the continuous improvement of the school, especially the facilities.
“Lusiana and I are also currently involved in organising the new Year 12 jumpers and the Year 12 formal,” he said.
Rylie hopes to get into the Air Force as a pilot after Year 12 and already holds an ultra-light pilot’s licence.
