Welcome for breakfast

YEAR 7 students at Cranbourne Secondary College were given a warm welcome to high school on Monday.
About 270 students, their families and teachers enjoyed a barbecue breakfast to kick off their first day of secondary education.
Student Well-being Co-ordinator Jan McAleese said the school had put on the barbecue for several years now to help ease the students’ entry into high school.
“It makes their transition quite smooth, rather than just being dropped at the gate on their first day,” she said.
The school runs the barbecue in conjunction with Anglicare who send volunteers to help serve.
“It was run very successfully … we had a great response from everyone,” she said.
The school also welcomed its new Acting Principal Jim Papas on Monday. Mr Papas has been appointed to lead the school for six months while Yvonne Watts is on leave.
