Replant order

A CRANBOURNE property owner who illegally removed vegetation has been ordered to replant more than what was cleared.
Casey Council received an anonymous complaint in relation to about three hectares of cleared land from a four-hectare property on Stevensons Road in Cranbourne.
Council discovered the vegetation was cleared without a permit and lodged an enforcement order at Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
The land owner must now replant significantly more vegetation than what was cleared as part of an ‘offset plan’ in accordance with Victoria’s Native Vegetation Management- A Framework for Action.
The council said the decision to lodge an enforcement order was not made lightly, and that ample time and opportunities were given for the land owner to rectify the breach.
The landowner was also ordered to erect a fence around the area that was cleared.
Prior to the hearing, a planning application was lodged with the council for horse stables and a dwelling to be built on the land.
