Search for a local model

AFTER success with the likes of Miss Universe Australia Laura Dundovic and Sydney model Annette Melton, Cranbourne swimwear designer April Hewat is now looking local for the next face to front her label.
Over two big nights, Davey’s Bar and Bistro will host her Search for a Swimwear Model competition on Thursday 10 and Saturday 12 December.
The event will see more than 100 local models battle it out and the winner will become the face of April Marie Swimwear for 2011.
Ms Hewat decided to support the community by bringing out its talent.
“I was born and bred in Frankston, my grandparents helped shape the community into what it is today and I’m proud of what we all have achieved,” she said.
She has decided all photo shoots, models, hair stylists, make-up artists, sponsorship deals, functions and fashion show will be held on the Mornington Peninsula from now on.
This event will see local sponsors and volunteers from local event management and photography schools involved, to gain experience in their industries.
Proceeds from the event will go to local charity C.H.I.L.D Foundation.
Contestants will receive a bag from Novo shoes and a Zumay hair salon gift voucher and finalists will take home a pair of Gisele Bunchen sandals.
Runway Australia and Miss World finalists Sally Arnott and Monique Wardly will judge the event and model scouts will be there on the lookout for local beauties.
Men have not been forgotten as there will be a Search for a Six Pak competition and a classic muscle car display.
Both nights will start at 9pm.
