A 15-YEAR-OLD Cranbourne boy died after he was thrown from the tray of a utility that rolled near Bairnsdale last week.
Police said they believed six people were in the ute collecting firewood when it lost control down a steep hill on a dirt track on the Mount Sugarloaf-Deptford Road in Deptford about 7pm on Friday night.
The three male passengers in the tray were thrown from the vehicle, killing the 15-year-old instantly, police said.
The two other passengers were taken to Bairnsdale Hospital, and one was later airlifted to the Royal Children’s Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The three people in the cabin, two males and a female, were treated by paramedics at the scene.
Members of the Major Collision Investigation Unit are at the scene and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the roll-over.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
