THE prestigious RSL Member of the Year award went to Len Clark of Cranbourne RSL.
Mr Clark received the award in front of over 120 members and guests at this year’s President’s Awards on 5 November.
When he was asked to attend, Mr Clark had no idea he had been nominated for the honour.
“It was quite a shock,” Mr Clark said.
“My name came up and I thought, ‘You ratfinks!’”
Mr Clark has been a member of Cranbourne RSL for about 12 years and is president of the Cranbourne RSL Bowls Club.
He has helped out over the years by driving the members’ bus once a fortnight and by making coffees and setting up stalls at the Dandenong-Cranbourne RSL Sunday market.
