Lead-up to hit and run sought

POLICE are appealing to the public for information about the lead-up to a hit and run in Hampton Park that left a man with extensive injuries.
Police said a motorcyclist was travelling east along Pound Road about 10.15pm last Friday when he was hit by a car entering the South Gippsland Highway.
The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his fifties, was left on the road with extensive injuries while the driver of the car failed to stop and continued north onto the highway, police said.
The rider suffered a host of injuries including broken ribs, a dislocated shoulder and internal injuries.
Police believe a red Mitsubishi was involved in the collision, and are appealing to anyone who may have seen the vehicle on Pound Road prior to the collision, or on the South Gippsland Highway and Monash Freeway afterwards, to come forward.
The vehicle would have clearly visible damage on the rear passenger side, police said.
Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
