MEMBERS of the Turning Point Family Church have collected more than 300 shoeboxes filled with things to brighten the Christmas of a child affected by war, famine or natural disaster.
The Cranbourne church has been part of the Samaritans Purse facilitated Operation Christmas Child Boxes project for five years and the number of shoe boxes collected has grown each year.
Each box is filled with something special, something to love, something to play with, something to wear, something for hygiene and something educational.
The church’s goal this year was 300 shoeboxes and the final count when members brought their boxes in last month was 354.
Members of the church said a simple act of generosity gave hope to children afflicted by war, famine, natural disaster and extreme poverty and showed them that they had not been forgotten.
Anyone in the community can be part of the project. For information call Norma on 0413 114 711.
