NOMINATIONS are open for Casey’s Australia Day Study Tour program that gives young people the chance to spend a day at Parliament House in Canberra.
Up to 10 young people who attend school, live or work in the City of Casey and have an interest in observing the inner workings of the Australian Government will be selected to take part in the 2010 City of Casey Australia Day Study Tour.
Next year will be the 25th anniversary of the program.
Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said he encouraged teachers and employers to nominate a young person who will be 16 years of age by 30 April next year and who they think is worthy of being recognised and rewarded for their interest in Australian politics.
Those selected for the tour will have the opportunity to learn about the three tiers of Australian government.
They will spend half a day and an evening at Casey’s civic centre in Narre Warren and participate in a bus tour of the municipality and attend dinner with councillors and a council meeting.
To learn about the Victorian Government, award recipients will spend a day in Melbourne at Parliament House and attend a sitting in both the House of Representatives and the Legislative Assembly.
They will also take a four-day trip to Canberra to tour significant sights and spend a day at Parliament House.
Nomination forms are available at www.insideinfo.casey.gov.au.
Nominations close 20 November. For information call 9705 5200.
