MORE than 500 people celebrated the start of Children’s Week with an Open Day at the Cranbourne Community House on the weekend.
Children enjoyed an array of free activities on Saturday including craft, Library Has Legs storytime sessions, the mobile animal farm, football handball target and the first 100 children received a showbag.
Activities for adults included displays and demonstrations of folk art, mosaics, jewellery making and mahjong. There were also free ‘come and try’ classes offered on the day including body balance, yoga and belly dancing.
The Cranbourne Fire Brigade also took part in the day’s festivities and let children explore a firetruck.
A free sausage sizzle was offered to those who attended the open day.
Cranbourne Community House staff, committee members and tutors volunteered their services for the open day.
Staff said the day was a huge success and that it exceeded their expectations.
