THOSE attending the MRA Cranbourne GP Run will be able to find our more about the charity partner for the event, beyondblue.
Beyondblue is a national, independent, not-for-profit organisation and its key goal is to raise community awareness about depression and anxiety and reduce the associated stigma.
Beyondblue will have a marquee set up in Childers Street at the event for people to visit and find out about where to get help for depression and anxiety.
Chief executive of the organisation, Leonie Young, said she was delighted the City of Casey would work with beyondblue to raise awareness about depression and anxiety.
“These are common illnesses that can affect people from all walks of life. We want everyone to know that help is available and, with the right treatment, most people recover,” she said. Casey councillor and chairperson of the MRA Cranbourne GP Run organising committee, Kevin Bradford, said beyondblue was renowned for doing a great job in raising awareness about depression and anxiety and related drug and alcohol problems. The MRA Cranbourne GP Run organising committee was extremely pleased to nominate beyondblue as this year’s charity for one of the city’s premier events,” Cr Bradford said.
