FOR the first time in the history of the MRA Cranbourne GP Run, the National Anthem will be performed at this weekend’s wave-off.
This year’s Casey Idol winner Priscilla Leveque from Hampton Park is set to take centre stage on Saturday to sing the National Anthem.
Casey councillor Wayne Smith told the News he was pleased the council decided to include the anthem in the program, after he raised the issue last week with his fellow councillors.
“It was the right thing to do. All we were asking for was 90 seconds,” Cr Smith said.
According to Cr Smith, the National Anthem will be included at the MRA Cranbourne GP Run every year.
