FIVE hundred rainbow trout have been released into the lake at Casey Fields in preparation of the Futurefish Foundation’s Kids Come Try Fishing Day on Saturday.
City of Casey mayor Geoff Ablett, along with Futurefish Foundation directors David Kramer and Paul Worstelin, released the fish in the lake on Monday.
About 500 children are expected to take part on the day, along with their families, Cr Ablett said.
The children will be given expert tuition by Mr Kramer and Mr Worsteling before casting their luck into the lake.
“It’s a great opportunity for families to get together and enjoy the great outdoors, and have the chance to catch their dinner for the day,” Cr Ablett said.
City of Casey advised that the event is for registered participants only, and there is no availability for extra participants.
Fishing at the Casey Fields lake will not be allowed prior to the Come and Try Fishing Day.
