A 15-YEAR-OLD girl had a scare on her way to school last week when a man attempted to kidnap her in Hampton Park.
The girl was walking north along Elanora Way about 8.30am on 3 September when she was approached by a man in a small white car who asked her for directions.
Detective Senior Constable Brian Whitehead said the girl tried to ignore the man, but he got out of the car and grabbed the girl’s lower left arm and attempted to drag her into the car.
The girl fought the man off and escaped unharmed, police said.
Det Sen Const Whitehead said he wanted anyone who has had a similar experience in the area to come forward.
Witnesses were also sought to the attempted kidnapping, he said.
“These things do not happen often but obviously when they do we get a bit concerned, especially that time of morning when you get kids going to school,” Det Sen Const Whitehead said.
Police said the man was described as tall, of medium build and aged in his 30s.
He was wearing light blue jeans and a black hooded jacket.
If anyone has information about the attack call Detective Senior Constable Brian Whitehead at Narre Warren police on 9705 3111.
