DAMON returned to the streets of Cranbourne last week to thank the ladies who rushed to his aid when a metal sign blew from a shop and knocked him down.
Damon, 3, suffered some concussion and sported nasty cuts and bruises after he was knocked down by a large metal sign on High Street during the recent wild, windy weather.
Damon was with his four-year-old sister, Jordyn and grandmother, Therese, when the sign came flying down from a nearby shop as they walked to their car on 21 August.
“Damon ran towards the car and the sign flew off and wrapped around him and pushed him along the path on his face,” his grandmother said. “He was very lucky. It could have sliced him in half.”
Staff from Indulge Body and Mind Beauty Salon saw the incident and ran to help the youngster. They called the ambulance and brought the family into their shop and sat with them while they waited.
Staff member Roxana Burgos said they were relieved to hear Damon was not more seriously injured.
“We saw it happen. We were in shock and ran outside. He was very lucky.”
Damon’s grandmother said the ladies were a huge help.
“The girls were lovely. They gave us wet towels for the bleeding and gave Jordyn some drawing to do while we waited. Everyone was really nice and helpful.”
Damon’s mother, Michelle, who was in Townsville at the time, said she was relieved her son was not too seriously injured.
“The owner of the store that the sign came from came to our place afterwards to see if Damon was OK and gave the kids chocolates, so that was nice.
“Damon was dancing around when he saw the chocolates so we knew he was fine.”
