Powerline upgrades

MULTI-MILLION dollar powerline upgrades are underway in Tooradin.
SP AusNet customers in Tooradin will be among the first to receive upgrades as part of a $20 million investment which will see powerlines improve in 29 locations within eastern, central and northern Victoria.
SP AusNet spokeswoman Natasha Whalley said the company was committed to ensuring its electricity network was as reliable as possible, with this work set to improve power supply for about 215 premises in the area.
“Following routine powerline inspections, a number of powerpoles and conductors in Tooradin were identified as being able to be replaced, which is what our crews will be doing during August,” Ms Whalley said.
“Tooradin residents may notice increased activity in Station Road, Lyne Street, South Gippsland Highway, Evans Road, Matthew Street, Foreshore Road, Lyall Street, Mickle Street, Bakewell Street, Harewood Street, Monomeith Street and Yallock Street, as crews work to gradually complete this work,” she said.
Some streets have been or may be affected by the power interruption, including parts of Mickle Street, Lyall Street, South Gippsland Highway, Bakewell Street, Harewood Street and Monomeith Street.
Some Tooradin shops south of the South Gippsland Highway will also be affected; however SP AusNet will advise customers in advance of the impending works that will affect their power supply.
Ms Whalley said SP AusNet understood it was never a good time to be without power, but these works would ensure customers endured fewer unplanned power outages in the future.
