Top chef brings fresh cheer

By Bridget Brady
GABRIEL Gate says he hopes to inspire people with the joys of cooking and the importance of using fresh ingredients when he visits Cranbourne next month.
The popular chef will host a cooking demonstration in Cranbourne on 22 August and the community is invited to attend.
Mr Gate said he would cook a couple of dishes and talk to the audience about how to become “happy cooks”. He said people needed to be reminded about the fresh food message.
“Cooking and eating with fresh ingredients improves the quality of your life. We all want to be happy and we don’t realise that not having a good, healthy meal can affect behaviour and happiness,” Mr Gate said.
He said people did not need to be top chefs to prepare fresh meals.
“Lots of people don’t cook because they don’t have the skills. You learn by practising.”
But Mr Gate said he would make sure his demonstrations were not complex and achievable for the every-day cook.
“If will be a fun session. It’s about having a good time and it will be done with a light approach.”
He said he was looking forward to his visit to Cranbourne.
“It’s lovely to share with other people what you have been spending lots of time thinking about. It’s nice to share positive messages.
Mr Gate will have some of his books available to purchase.
