100 links to learning

IT WAS all things 100 at Courtenay Gardens Primary School last Tuesday for the 100 Days of School celebration.
Counting, measuring, comparing, making and creating in 100s were some of the processes the students were involved in as the whole school celebrated the special occasion.
Early years numeracy leading teacher Dearnne Backhouse said through the schools multi-media morning show, which the children produced each day, that they had been counting down the days in readiness for the 100 Days of School celebration.
“It was part of our school’s welfare program to decrease the amount of absenteeism within the school community and to celebrate being at school,” Ms Backhouse said.
Some of the activities the children were involved with included drawing pictures of what they think they will look when they are 100, making paper chains with 100 links and discussing what they could buy for $100.
