CRANBOURNE students will soon have the opportunity to have a ‘hands on’ approach to water management.
The Cranbourne campus of Chisholm Institute of TAFE will receive $8.2 million from the Federal Government to construct a new Centre for Sustainable Water Management.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne said the centre would provide learning opportunities for students at the TAFE in the form of workshops and laboratories for water supply, treatment, distribution, environmental water management and horticulture industries.
“The new centre will be unique in Australian training,” Mr Byrne said.
“It will integrate all levels of water industry skills from construction of water assets through to recycling.”
He said the new centre would help local students get the skills they needed to work in these sectors.
The funds will be provided as part of the Training Infrastructure Investment for Tomorrow program.
