PEARCEDALE Primary School students created a 10kg disco ball out of Easter egg wrappers to become the winners of the Casey Giant Easter Foil Disco Ball competition.
The school was one of 15 in the City of Casey that participated in the inaugural competition, which was designed to increase awareness that aluminium foil, cans and trays could all be placed in kerbside recycling bins.
Mayor Geoff Ablett said he was impressed the competition was so successful in its first year.
The prize for the school was $1000. Hillsmeade Primary School and Kilberry Valley Primary School both achieved merit awards and special mentions were given to Rangebank Primary School and Maramba Primary School.
