HARD waste and rubbish will be collected throughout Casey in the coming weeks.
As part of a twice-a-year hard waste and rubbish collection, residents throughout Casey will be able to dispose of unwanted hard waste, green waste and steel and metal items.
The collection will start on Monday 29 June and will continue for four weeks.
City of Casey engineering and environment manager David Richardson said residents will have received a brochure detailing the type of waste that can be collected and the collection dates for their area.
“Residents should refer to this brochure, as material should only be placed out on the nature strip in accordance with the collection dates for their area,” Mr Richardson said.
Material must be out by 6 am on Monday of the collection week and items should not exceed 55 kilos and cannot be longer than 1.5 metres in length.
Twelve areas around Casey will also see a change to their usual garbage collection day as of Monday 3 August.
Mr Richardson said Theiss, council’s waste collection contractor, had found that some areas collected on Thursdays and Fridays had become too large to complete in the new estates, while some Monday and Tuesday collections in the older established areas finished relatively early.
“The most effective waste service is delivered when garbage is picked up from approximately the same number of households each day of the week,” explained Mr Richardson.
Residents affected will receive advice about the changes in the mail and all Casey households will receive a new recycling calendar in the coming weeks.
