Girls’ energising breakfast

By Jaimee Damon
LOCAL female high school students took part in the Cranbourne Active Girls Breakfast on Tuesday June 16.
Held at Ranfurlie Golf Club, 60 students attended the breakfast as part of City of Casey’s Energise Program.
Attendees listened to guest speakers including 800 metre Olympic runner Madeleine Pape, and Trisha Broadbridge from the Reach Foundation.
The Energise Program provides teenage girls and young mothers with opportunities to become involved in sport, active recreation and leadership programs for little or no cost.
City of Casey mayor Geoff Ablett said the program was a great opportunity for teenage girls and young mums to have fun, interact socially and meet new people.
The students were treated to breakfast with entertainment provided by the Cranbourne Callisthenics Club. Mentors were seated at each table from various organisations including Cricket Victoria, VicSport, the Youth Girls Football League and Reach Foundation.
The mentors discussed issues like self-esteem, body image and the positive aspects of being involved in sport with the students.
City of Casey is expanding the activities for the Energise Program. To find out more contact the Council’s Energise Project Officer on 9705 5200.
