THE school of two of the victims killed in the weekend’s devastating Lynbrook crash has reached out to support fellow students, friends and families.
About 90 students gathered at the school on Tuesday to mourn the losses of their friends Year 10 students Anja Miler and Riyani Lowen.
Psychologists, counsellors, and staff were at Narre Warren South P-12 School to offer support and services to people affected by the tragedy.
School principal Rob Casamento said the news of their deaths have devastated the entire community.
“It’s awful for everyone, in particularly the families involved,” he said. “An event like this rips to the heart of the whole community.”
Mr Casamento said staff used social net-working site Facebook to notify students that support services would be available at the school. “I think it’s great that the whole community is coming together to support each other through a difficult time,” he said.
Mr Casamento said the two girls were very well-respected by fellow students and staff.
“They were two very lovely girls, and very popular,” he said. “They were the sort of girls teachers loved to have in their class. They were dedicated to their studies, and were involved in anything and everything in the school. They were top teenagers, and will be greatly missed.”
Friends left tributes to the four teenagers killed in the crash at a memorial on the corner of Hallam Road and Ormond Road, Lynbrook. Letters to the girls stated: “Love you little girl, Always and Forever.”
A letter to Joel Brimble, who also died in the crash, read: “You were the most wonderful happy person I ever met in my life- you bring me joy and I will never forget you.”
