PLANNING Minister Justin Madden has defended the Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution (GAIC) scheme, saying it is necessary to fund new infrastructure.
Mr Madden said it would be “completely irresponsible” for the government to open new land for development and not secure revenue to pay for schools, roads, community facilities and public transport.
“To do so would leave the communities without infrastructure,”Mr Madden said.
