THE Cranbourne Square came alive on Saturday morning with jazz music, children’s activities and residents expressing ideas and concerns about the community’s future.
Saturday Morning in the Square was organised by the Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the City of Casey and Cranbourne Community Plan.
Residents were invited to visit four different marquees where they could learn about current plans and events and express their opinions or concerns with members of the Chamber of Commerce, City of Casey or Cranbourne police.
“The square came alive with people.
“I would say there were well and truly over 500 people there,” president of the Cranbourne Chamber of Commerce Judy Davis said.
“It was fantastic to see different community groups getting together and working together to improve the community.”
Most feedback from the event-goers was positive, Ms Davis said, with people looking forward to the completion of current and future projects, such as the Casey RACE and Casey Fields.
“There were people of all ages giving their opinions and most people seemed pleased with the potential Cranbourne has,” she said.
“There were a few negative comments but that was OK because we wanted to know what residents want.”
Visitors were also treated to a sausage sizzle by the Lions Club, live music and children’s activities.
Ms Davis said Saturday Morning in the Square was successful and the Chamber of Commerce may implement four similar events a year.
