Heads up for bird lovers

THERE will be something for all bird enthusiasts, from beginners to professional breeders, at the Mornington Peninsula Avicultural Society Bird Show and Expo.
Now in its 25th year, the event draws crowds of more than 5000 people to KCC Park, Skye, each year for everything relating to the raising, keeping and care of birds.
Event organiser Colin Butler said the expo is like the “farmers market for birds”.
“It is a great opportunity for private breeders to sell their stock direct to the public and great for the public to buy good quality stock,” he said.
There will be more than 75 breeders selling birds including cockatoos, parrots, finches, doves, budgies and canneries, as well as 30 trade stands.
The event will be held on 31 May at KCC Park, 655 Western Port, Skye.
Trade stalls open to the public at 9.30am and bird sales will open at 11am and run until 2pm. Admission is $2.
For further details contact Colin Butler on 0438 331 112.
