Clearout to aid animal appeal

A GARAGE sale to clear left over donations from Black Saturday will be held in Narre Warren again this weekend.
The sale was held on May 16 and 17 in Narre Warren and although sales were good, organisers said the plethora of goods meant there were still plenty to be sold.
Nigel’s Animal Rescue from Devon Meadows and Barrie Tapp from the Animal Cruelty Hotline organised the sale and raised about $2,500 from the weekend.
They originally called for donations of animal feed and pet-related goods after the fires, but ended up with a shed full of clothing, books, towels and toys among other things.
This weekend, any used items will be sold for $1 and there will be wine tasting available. Sharon Williamson said the weekend was a success.
“We were happy with it. There were people there at 9am before the sale started,” Mrs Williamson said.
“Most people were really happy to pay and if we said an item cost $10 some people gave us $20. But there is still a heap to be sold.”
All money raised will go to the newly established Australian Animal Rescue.
The sale will be held again this Saturday and Sunday at 12 Vesper Drive in Narre Warren from 10am to 4pm.
There is still a need for animal feed. To donate feed call Barrie Tapp on 0409 144 803.
