The facility will have six fully equipped classrooms and areas for online research, quiet reading, editing audio-visual projects and presentation and book displays.
“The learning centre means a modern learning facility which supports high quality teaching and learning opportunities for our students,” principal Garry Rolfe said.
“This is a brilliant opportunity for our students to be equipped with resources to support the development of their skills to compete and prosper in the modern globalised world.”
The school is one of three in Cranbourne to receive funding from round one of the Rudd Government’s Primary Schools for the 21st Century Program.
Three million dollars has been allocated to Courtenay Gardens Primary School and $2.5 million has been allocated to Casey Grammar School.
“The $8.5 million invested in Cranbourne schools from Round 1 of Primary Schools for the 21st Century will support jobs through demand for tradespeople and construction workers,” Federal Member for Holt Anthony Byrne said.
Construction of the new facility at Cranbourne Primary School is expected to begin in June.
Schools yet to apply for funding under P21 can contact their education authority and submit proposals for round two before 15 May 2009.
