Man trapped

A RANGE of emergency services joined forces to free a 29-year-old Cranbourne man when he was trapped by an excavator in Avonsleigh on Monday.
SES, CFA, police, ambulance, Monbulk CFA Rescue and Worksafe representatives attended the scene, at Wright Road, at 9.45am.
The man was using an excavator on a driveway when the excavator arm kicked back on the control lever and trapped him by the right hand. Emergency services stabilised the excavator before freeing the man. He was taken to Dandenong Hospital with hand and leg injuries.
Acting Sergeant Jen McKenna, of Emerald Police, said the rescue went smoothly, under the circumstances.
“They did a great job of calming the man and stabilising the excavator,” she said. Worksafe is investigating the incident.
