Cash taken from gaming venue

By Lia Bichel
AMSTEL Golf Course was hit by thieves in a day-time burglary last week.
On 13 April, a man and woman entered the tabaret at about 1pm. The woman grabbed a handful of cash from the till and ran out of the venue. Staff chased the woman but she fled in a silver sedan.
Police said the man left the venue after the woman fled.
Club manager Peter Craig said it was rare to have crime in the area.
“This is the first burglary we have had in eleven years. We have never had an issue with crime before,” he said.
Amstel Golf Course, located on Cranbourne-Frankston Road, is beefed up with security to help prevent criminal activity, Mr Craig said.
“The building next to us once got graffitied, but we have never been targeted,” he said.
“We have good security here, and we have CCTV coverage which will hopefully be able to be used in this instance.”
Mr Craig said he was unsure how much money was stolen from the till.
The woman is described as being in her 20s, blonde, wearing denim jeans and a white t-shirt under a purple shirt.
The man is described as tall, wearing an orange t-shirt with a print, a black baseball cap, tracksuit pants and runners.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers or contact Detective Senior Constable Gavin Hiku at Narre Warren Office of Casey CIU on 97053114.
