THE community is invited to watch the sun rise on Easter Sunday at a historic homestead at Tooradin.
Members of the Christ Church (Anglican Church) Tooradin will celebrate the first moments of Easter at a dawn service at Harewood.
Patricia McWhirter owns the property, which is one of the original houses in the area.
Marie Ormandy from the church said the dawn service was a beautiful way to see in Easter.
“We have had the dawn service there for a few years now. It is a really peaceful and beautiful thing. It’s very serene, it’s morning and such a lovely time to celebrate Easter,” Ms Ormandy said.
Being the only church in the coastal villages, Ms Ormandy said she encouraged everyone to join the celebrations by the old-fashioned garden on the property.
“Because we are the only church it is very special to have this opportunity. Patricia is very generous to allow us to have the service at her place and let people enjoy and appreciate what a treasure it is.”
The service will start at 6.15am on 12 April. People can bring their own chair and are encouraged to dress warmly.
A breakfast of bacon and eggs and hot cross buns will follow the service.
The house is next to the airport on the South Gippsland Highway in Tooradin. Entrance to the property is past the airport.
