PEARCEDALE Playgroup celebrated its open day during National Playgroup Week last Wednesday.
Secretary Sally Lewis said the open day was planned to welcome parents who had thought about sending their children to playgroup.
“Playgroup provides children with social interaction with other young children outside their family,” Mrs Lewis said.
“They are with their parents and care givers so they feel safe and comfortable and can take part in activities they may not be able to do at home.
“It is also good social interaction for parents.”
Flinders MP Greg Hunt visited the children last Wednesday to celebrate National Playgroup Week.
“The Pearcedale Playgroup is a wonderful example of a thriving local playgroup, a place where parents can meet over a cuppa while their children socialise and develop vital motor skills,” Mr Hunt said.
“As the father of a very active three-year-old and with another baby on the way, I know how important playgroups can be in the lives of young families.”
The Pearcedale Playgroup holds sessions on Monday and Wednesday mornings at the Pearcedale Community Centre.
