THE community is invited to come together for the annual Good Friday Easter March.
The 12 churches that are part of the Cranbourne Christian Ministers Association (CCMA) organise the Stations of the Cross that mark the events of the day when Jesus died on the cross.
CCMA chairman Phil Cayzer said about 1000 people were expected to gather in Cranbourne on Good Friday.
“We encourage people to come along and enjoy the day, even those who don’t go to church. It’s a very open and relaxing time for people to be part of something as a community,”Pastor Cayzer said.
Students from Christian schools and Salvation Army band members will join parishioners of the 12 churches and present the story through music and drama at three stations.
“The whole focus is on the memory of what Easter stands for and Jesus coming and sacrificing himself.”
A bus is available for those who are unable to walk between the Stations of the Cross. The first presentation will start at 11am at the corner of Sladen and Lamb streets in Cranbourne.
The second station is at Clydesdale Square on High Street and the third at Ray Perry Park on the corner of the South Gippsland Highway and Clarendon Street.
All are invited to stay for hot cross buns and a drink afterwards at the Cranbourne Public Hall.
