STUDENTS and staff at Cranbourne South Primary School emptied their pockets and sported crazy locks to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation last week.
The school participated in the World’s Greatest Shave in conjunction with the school’s Crazy Hair day, and raised $600 for the cause.
Junior school teacher Gavin Balzary shaved his head to honour a pact he made with the students.
“I told them that if they raised $500 on the day, I would shave my head for World’s Greatest Shave,” he said.
“They all did crazy things with their hair, but really enjoyed the fundraising part of things. They raised $600, which is fantastic, especially considering we just raised $1000 for the bushfire appeal not long ago.”
Mr Balzary said the school participated in the World’s Greatest Shave in the past and hoped to make it an annual tradition.
“It’s an important foundation helping a lot of kids who are similar in age to the students at our school,” he said.
“There was a lot of community support and the students really enjoyed it. Hopefully we can do this every year.”
