A CRANBORNE man suffered burns to his body after petrol from his car exploded on Monday morning.
Advanced life support paramedics from Cranbourne and the ambulance helicopter were called to the home at 11.50am.
“The 34-year-old man had been cleaning the engine out and when he started the car, petrol exploded out of the spark plug hole catching fire and burning the man,” said Russell Pearson, the advanced life support paramedic.
Mr Pearson said the man had suffered burns to the side of his face and arm, and was cooling himself in the shower when crews arrived. He was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
